The Mill District is a collection of seven historic buildings across an 11-acre property. Each building is an intricate piece customized for your wedding day!

  1. The Mill was built in 1902 and was a fully operational grain mill until the late ‘80s. With its towering 3 story size and central location, it’s the staple piece of our property. The area outside, under the patio, is the perfect place for appetizers and cocktail hour. Inside you will find a welcoming space perfect for cards and gifts. Downstairs is our indoor Chapel complete with stained glass on the ceiling, church pews, and recently updated elegant lighting for an intimate ceremony.

  2. The Watermill is the oldest building on the property. Dating back to the mid-1800s, nicknamed the Watermill due to its steam-powered grain separator. This building is the perfect space for a rehearsal dinner accommodating up to 40 guests. As you walk in it’s hard to overlook the massive harvest table that can seat 20 guests by itself. This space is also great for smaller events and is complete with a commercial refrigerator and deep freezer. Downstairs is the Groom’s lounge. You will find a pool table, poker table, Bluetooth speaker, dart board, hundreds of vinyl records, TV, neon signs, another harvest table, taxidermy on the walls, and lounge-style seating.

  3. The Barn is original to the property but went through a facelift when the other buildings were relocated here. It is our main reception hall that can seat 250 guests between the inside and outside covered patio. The barn is well insulated and equipped with state-of-the-art heating and cooling to keep your guests comfortable year round. The outside patio is covered to stay cool in the summer and is fitted with clear sides and patio heaters for the cooler months.

  4. The Stone Parlor is the first building you see as you pull into the property. It was originally a cow milking parlor. The exterior is lined with hand-split stone that sparkles in the sun. It’s sure to provide the perfect backdrop for first looks, wedding party photos, or a place the bride can gather before walking down the aisle. Inside you will find our meeting place for wedding tours and a display of some of our decorations.

  5. The Cottage is a beautiful open-concept modern accommodation. It sleeps up to 6 with 2 bedrooms, 2 beds, and a premium air mattress with linens. It has large floor-to-ceiling windows, a black metal roof, white siding, and cedar shake peaks. The view out of the large windows is stunning overlooking a huge field. The aesthetic of the outside carries inside with gorgeous poplar flooring and trim, custom-built cabinets, a large farm table, and a brand new bathroom. This space is great for the bridal party to get ready in and photographers love it for all of the natural light provided. It’s the perfect space to relax, have fun, and enjoy the morning before your wedding.

  6. The Post Office was built in 1906 and was the functioning post office for Ray, Indiana until the early ‘90s. The postmaster used to live upstairs in its former life. Now fully converted to a rental, the Post office can sleep up to 6 guests. The main floor has a TV, boho-themed decor, 2 egg chairs, a couch, a table, and 4 chairs. Upstairs are the sleeping quarters with 2 beds and a premium air mattress with linens. Downstairs has a sitting area, fireplace, bathroom, and a kitchenette complete with a stocked coffee and breakfast bar. The freshly painted alabaster white exterior with tricorn black accents provides elegant and classy photos.

    7. The White House dates back to the mid-1800s. Originally located in Ray, Indiana, now the owners of The Mill District, James and Jourdan, reside there. In between weddings, if you don’t see James working on the property, you will be sure to find him working on a project at the house. Perched on top of a hill overlooking the 300+ acre cornfield, the view and sunsets are gorgeous. Although this area is private and guests are not allowed, The owners are more than happy to let the Bride, Groom, and photographer use the house as a backdrop for sunset photos.
